About Allison

Hello! I’m Allison Andrews, Official Scent Work Addict

I’m the owner and trainer of Foothills Canine Academy. Since beginning Scent Work in 2011, I’ve become obsessed with helping handlers and dogs reach their maximum potential using this sport. My students also point out my extraordinary amounts of patience and funky handling moves.

You participate in dog sports so that you and your dog can have FUN. That’s why I incorporate games into my classes and work hard to maintain a supportive and enjoyable class culture.

Not only do I compete succesfully at the highest levels of scent work with multiple untraditional dogs, but I also continually pursue additional education from the experts, giving me an expanded toolbox. Because of this, I am able to select and tailor the most effective method to your specific handler and dog team, setting you up for success. In 2013-2019 I was certified by the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT). While I no longer maintain this certification, I continue to subscribe to the code of ethics, LIMA (Least Invasive, Minimally Intrusive) principles, and advanced education.

Excited to uncover your dog’s superpowers? I can’t wait to show you!

Number of Scent Work Titles Earned

I don’t just teach, I compete. My dogs and I have earned over 60 titles and counting and over 200 placements. We believe it’s hard to teach people to master the challenges of competition when you haven’t yourself.

Scent Work is ALL We Do

Teaching over 50 teams a week, personally training under the countries top coaches, and competing at the highest levels – my focus is targeted solely on scent work. It’s all I do.

“My experience has been Five Star all the way. The professionalism and willingness to go the extra mile have made for a totally positive learning experience for both me and my dog. I recommend Foothills without reservation.”

"We found her knowledgeable, smart and good with both dogs and humans. She is able to make classes fun and maintain good training principals. She seems to really enjoy what she does and her enthusiasm is infectious. I recommend her as a teacher and trainer.”

Cathy E. and Riley & Logan

"Allison has helped Tanner get over his environmental sensitivities and even become a friendly dog (if you are in his club). I never thought I could get into a competition but with Allison's coaching Tanner has excelled. I can't thank Allison enough for showing us how much fun competition and sniffing can be!"
